Ebel Quarries in Wiarton, Ontario was founded by Charles Ebel and has been a leading supplier of natural stone since 1950.
Charles started the business with one homemade track saw and a modified army
truck with hydraulic arms. Charles and his five sons, Rowan, Grif, Herb, Doug,
and Roger began quarrying and doing stone installation jobs. Now in its third
generation, Ebel Quarries is still a family business.
In 1964, Ebel Quarries' tender of $525 was accepted for the stonework for the Wiarton Public Library; it was the only bid submitted.
An office building was constructed in 1962, and has been renovated several times over the years. It now includes multiple offices, a boardroom and a showroom. The exterior of the building is faced with Ebel building stone.
The company has grown to a year round operation with over 50 employees and over 20 cutting and splitting machines.
With advancements in quarrying and cutting equipment, Ebel Quarries continually
strives toward further automation to provide our customers with more efficient
service.
